Pit bulls are loyal, loving, and strong, but too often, misunderstood… just like street art at times.
Let’s use Pit Bull Awareness Month to show the world their true beauty, challenge stereotypes, and get them the recognition they deserve.
This Pit Bull Awareness Month, we’re here to bust 5 of the biggest myths about these amazing dogs and reveal the truth about their nature!
Myth 1 : Pit bulls are naturally aggressive.
Fact: Like any other dog, pit bulls are shaped by how they’re raised, trained, and treated. With love and care, pit bulls make incredible, affectionate companions. Pit bulls are protective, not aggressive by nature, and they thrive in loving homes.
Myth 2: Pit bulls have “locking jaws.”
Fact: No, they don’t! Pit bulls don’t have any special mechanism in their jaws. They just happen to be strong, determined chewers (which is why our Toys are designed with them in mind!).
Myth 3: Pit bulls aren’t good with kids.
Fact: Pit bulls are known to be incredibly loyal and loving to their families, including children, when properly socialized. In fact, they’ve been historically referred to as “nanny dogs” for their gentle demeanor with kids.
Myth 4: Pit bulls don’t feel pain.
Fact: All dogs feel pain! Pit bulls are strong and resilient, but that doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. Like any dog, they deserve care and compassion. Toughness does not mean they are invulnerable.
Myth 5: Pit bulls are only for experienced owners.
Fact: With the right training, environment, and socialization, pit bulls can make wonderful pets for any responsible owner, regardless of experience level. They’re eager to learn and love to please their owners.
